Very good service from peruvian soul and the choice of tour guides. We had an amazing trip to peru bolivia and chile. Only minor issue was type of room provided in uyuni, but was sorted next day once I told Anne about it. I would definitely recommend Kimkim/peruvian soul for journeys to peru and Bolivia.

Cusco was our favorite city. The people were so kind and genuine in and around town. We especially loved spending Halloween with all the sweet children around the city square. They were so lovely in their costumes and so polite when we were handing out candy. Great Halloween in Cusco! Our guide in Puno, Willie, was fantastic! I especially liked how he would tell us things in English and Spanish to help us learn. His passion for his country and culture were contagious. He taughus a lot about the local people and history. We especially enjoyed our trip on Lake Titicaca and exploring the islands. Such a beautiful place! Overall, we were very happy with our travel and accommodations. When we did have some minor challenges, Anne was responsive and helpful in getting things sorted. We would highly recommend a trip to Peru and the use of Peruvian Soul to coordinate it.

Inotawa Lodge

Nice staff and good food. The lodge itself needs repairs and upgrades. There was no warm water or shampoo in the bathroom. The mosquitoes were horrific and the room had so many openings in the walls and floors, that they (and other bugs) came right in. The common areas need to be screened in, so you can eat and relax without cockroaches and mosquitoes intruding. The stairs up to the lodge and pathways were in need of repair and were difficult to walk on. The guide, Joaquim, was great. The boat excursions were enjoyable, but the forest excursions were difficult to enjoy because of the swarms of mosquitoes. We liked the people and loved seeing the animals, but the lodge needs some improvements.

In spite of the spotty so-so weather, this trek to the sun gate and into Machu Picchu was beautiful! Miguel encouraged us to soak in the view of the ruin from afar and mentally prepare for our arrival. Miguel helped us to prioritize the order of taking in the site so that we were not caught up with the bulk of visitors.

Our trip was incredible! Anne did an excellent job in listening to what we were looking for. The food tour in Lima was an excellent way to start our adventure. The restaurant recommendations , we were never disappointed. Julio was one of my favorite guides as he loves his culture and was so informative. He just really gave us a first class history tour of Peru. The dinners in m people's homes allowed us to see first hand the farming as well as the hospitality the Peruvians show. Lake Titikaka was lovely with the beautiful people sharing a long heritage of culture and the pick up at the hotel by boat was so nice not to have to take another shuttle.
But the best part of our trip was hiking the Inca trail with Richard. The pied piper of Peru. Altho the hike was tougher than we thought it would be, Richard shared his love of his culture all the way along, the porters were so helpful and the cook outdid himself.
Ending in the Amazon was like the dot at the end of a perfect sentence.
No detail was spared. 5 stars to a great company. You helped make our bucket list trip truly a trip of a lifetime. Hats off!!!!

Eddy, in Machu Picchu was very accommodating to my bad knee, and patient as we navigated the terrain there. Richard, who was our guide on and around Lake Titicaca was also very thorough and passionate as a guide. Our drivers were all amazing--I always felt safe! One thing that stood out on this trip compared to others I've taken is that our guide was allowed and interested in participating in our adventures. I really appreciated and enjoyed that they broke bread with us, as I wanted to know our guides as much as the places they were teaching us about.

I would happily work with Peruvian Soul in the future! Thank you, Anne for showing up at midnight when we arrived in Lima to welcome us and make sure we made it to our hotel!

As a super-planner, I wish that especially toward the end there was daily communication about how plans were coming along. I was nervous at times as our trip was coming near and I wasn't sure if hotels or train were confirmed, for example. A bit of reassurance would have been helpful. That said, it all worked out, so I know I can trust Peruvian Soul going forward. :o)

There were some problems with the Kimkim platform sending me alerts that I had a new message which hampered communications with Anne, so I tended to rely on Whatsapp. I hope Kimkim can work through this bug/experience issue.

If I had one wish, I would wish that I had some guidance on shopping. I didn't ask for any upfront, so I don't know what information might have been offered, and as such it's not a ding on Peruvian Soul by any stretch. I learned the hard way that there are a lot of touts selling "original" art, that is not original. I also should have saved every bit of money to spend on Taquile island where there are gorgeous, authentic textiles at fixed prices. I see an opportunity for a shopping guide to be added to the other helpful guides provided for the trip.

The only thing that I would have appreciated was more information on travel/passport requirements before paying for the trip. They gave us the info we needed after we paid, and only then did we realize that my husbands passport would have to be renewed before we could go on our trip. This resulted in about a delay while we waited for my husbands passport, which although it wasn't the end of the world, was a bit disappointing.
Regardless, I could not have been happier with the service received through kimkim with the help of Anne. If you are wondering if they are a good choice, the answer is yes! Thank you so much for such an amazing experience!!

I loved staying here! It felt like camping but with a bed and warm water!! They have beautiful facilities and my only regretting with staying here, is that we didn't stay here longer!

Tips for future travelers

I would recommend that you bring someone who speaks Spanish with you, as its in a part of Peru that doesn't see many foreign tourists. Also be aware that if you fly into Jauja (the closest airport) you may need to be slightly flexible with your trip plans. Our flight was cancelled and then our new flight was delayed. So be aware of that if you choose to come here!

Then during our first morning, she walked us through parts of Lima, where we found a fabulous brunch and money exchange. Anne made sure we understood our entire plan for the week, and helped us secure our luggage with the hotel so we could go sand boarding and sledding in the Chilca dunes. From there, we went to the Amazon, then Ollantaytambo, Cusco, and of course Matchu Picchu and Aguas Calientes. Because of our ambitious travel plans, Anne made all of our connections happen. We took all modes of transportation - boats, zip lines, busses, vans, cars, planes, and a train. We felt completely safe and comfortable the entire trip. We never had to worry with ticket lines, or even keeping up with tickets. Our tour company and our guides handled it all. All of our hosts at hotels, lodges, and boutiques were courteous, accommodating, and made us feel at home. The food was incredible. We are all so disappointed in fruit and nuts now that we are home - Peru spoiled us forever. Our guides - Anne, Luis, and Jesus - made us feel like family and taught us more than we ever knew we should know about Peru's people, beautiful land and resources, culture, history, and current events. Their love and enthusiasm for their country is infectious. I have been recommending Anne, Jesus, Luis, Peruvian Soul, and KimKim to all of my friends and family since we returned less than a week ago. I've bored all my friends and family with all of our postcard photoshopped looking pictures. I still cannot believe the trip we had - it really seems unreal. First, it is really difficult to choose a favorite on our trip. But this one is near or at the top because it felt like we were the only ones for miles around, and we were at someone's property for a nice lunch. The food was incredible, authentic, and varied. We were able to talk with the women who cooked the meal and see the way food was prepared. There were some adorable alpacas and other farm animals just casually hanging out near the shore while we ate. The setting was breathtaking, unreal, and quiet. During a trip when you're seeing and processing so much at once, it was nice to sit for a moment and be still and appreciate your environment and the people who live here.

For upcoming travelers, here are some places we really enjoyed: Machu Picchu, private lunch at the plantation outside of Lima on our way back from sandboarding, the rainforest (we only stayed two nights and wish we would’ve stayed 3), the local market in Cusco, and our extended stay in sacred valley.

Additionally, even with traveling during covid Anne made us feel comfortable and prepared throughout the trip. We loved that she met us in Lima on our first day! It helped us feel more prepared and comfortable walking into our 12 day trip.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we could not have asked for a better honeymoon. In 12 days, we went from the coast line, to the desert, to the rainforest, and ended our trip in the mountains. If you are looking for a great adventure - Peru is it!!

Peruvian Soul, booked through kimkim.com, will make your trip so EASY and SPECIAL. The itinerary made for us by Anne based on what we wanted was perfect and we were given freedom to make changes as needed. The inter-country travel is all taken care of by the agency which is a huge help; i.e. you don’t have to buy separate tickets from Lima to Cusco to the Amazon – just your flight to Peru and back. We had private vans for transportation provided and private tour guides. We could have, but ended up not needing one taxi. All of the tour guides, especially Julio, are professional, extremely knowledgeable (trust me – we asked a lot of questions), and passionate. They knew all of the best photo-ops, every available bathroom, times in between bathrooms, and had good tips along the way like when we needed COVID masks, bug spray, extra water etc.

Kimkim.com made it easy to communicate with Peruvian Soul, our travel agency. It’s easy to make payments on the site. The itinerary is easy to look through, and our travel agent was always quick to respond if we had questions. The itinerary is great to print out before your trip so you can be organized as well.

COVID in Peru: up until we finally took our flight to Peru we were monitoring the COVID situation to make sure we were safe/eligible to travel. As of Sept 2021, the Peru govt. had a mask mandate in all public places including outdoors. All markets, restaurants, tourist stops were required to take visitor temperatures and give hand sanitizer out. These requirements really didn’t end up being big deal, and it was really nice having the peace of mind that we were being safe, and Peruvians were being safe. Peruvian Soul also coordinated an antigen test for us our last day in Peru so we could return to the U.S., which was also a huge help since we speak limited Spanish.

All in all, you will not regret this trip and fall in love with Peru just like we did.

Anne, who was our tour director, was very flexible in designing our trip as we had to postpone the trip 3 weeks before the scheduled date and reschedule for a month later. We decided to add a few more days to our trip after the postponement, and Anne graciously and gracefully added to our itinerary seamlessly. She also arranged for us to go to places a little off the beaten path such as Aspero, (which I highly recommend as the tour there gave us so much insight into the Caral culture.)
The only thing KimKim asked us to do on our own was to buy plane tickets to and from Lima to Cusco. Somehow LATAM got my wife's last name wrong, assuming that it was my own, and supplied us with bogus passport numbers. (The customer service agent at LATAM said the bogus numbers were due to us having purchased the tickets in the United States. This does not make sense to me.) It took my wife and I three hours talking to the LATAM central office to correct these difficulties. Given that at least the bogus passport numbers were predictable and the assumption about my wife's last name probable, KimKim might take it upon themselves to purchase these tickets for their customers to obviate these difficulties. However, that only made plain to us what a marvelous job the personnel at KimKim had done in making our trip comfortable, delightful, and extraordinary.

Anne put together an amazing trip for us to Peru. Everything was well organized. Drivers and guides were reliable, always on time and very caring. Everything was well thought of for us. We loved all the local hotels that were selected for us especially the one in Cuzco. The whole process to setup the itinerary was very easy for us and the whole trip was perfectly tailored to allow us to see all the things we wanted to see.

All the sites along the northern coast were very unique. The ancient city of Chan Chan by the coast was beautiful, and all the gold at Lord Sipan's museum. Kuelap was impressive but very hard to get to, the major airport at Jaen has one or two runways I think. We loved Arequipa and our trip to Colca canyon to see the flying condors. Our guide Luis made this part of our trip memorable. Our girls loved that we stopped by local shepherd's pen to see all the llamas and alpacas before they start grazing for the day. Driving in Peru was thrilling and spectacular. The different sceneries were amazing from the coastal desert to the altiplano and the high peaks of the Andes. The crowds at Machu Picchu was as amazing as the sight itself. The mini Inca trail to the sun gate then the real site next day was perfect for us. The amazon jungle was a perfect ending for our trip. We were amazed by the beautiful lodges we stayed at deep into the jungle. The wild life we saw was wonderful and the food was excellent. The biking with tasting food at Lima was so interesting as well.

This is now the third trip we have done using KimKim. We have never been disappointed and will continue to use them in the future.

Anne was great. Very accommodating and responsive. Whenever there were any questions she answered promptly. We would use Anne again to help plan our trip :)

Juan was available to us at all times and kept us organized & comfortable throughout the trip. He was also a very kind and ethical person who cares very much about the rain forest environment & shared that passion with us. This made our trip very special.

The Lodge and Research Center were very clean, comfortable and the staff at each location were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food was also excellent. The staff at these locations on he Tahuaya River work well as a team to make sure their guest have a wonderful experience in the Amazon Basin & they succeed!

One final comment about Anne. Anne really went above & beyond in her assistance to my friend and I before the trip, and throughout the entire trip. Anne is a top rate local specialist in Peru. She did everything necessary to make our trip perfect. Thank you Anne!

Roberto, our driver, in addition to being responsible for safely driving us to every destination, provided us a peek inside the quechuan traditions and practices through his marvelous stories. From the minute Carlos picked us up at the airport, he was friendly and welcoming which was a perfect start to our trip. Our lunch at Maido to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday was fun and delicious. Then, we learned so much from Diego about the history and politics of Peru during our drive to Pisco to see the Nazca Lines. The Nazca Lines flyover was fascinating and memorable, although a little more adventurous than I anticipated (still super glad I did it though). During the ride back to Lima, Diego heard us talking about how we were interested in seeing the Barranco neighborhood, so he took us on an impromptu and walking tour there.

But the person who made our trip absolutely over the top perfect was Julio Caesar. He is so kind, knowledgeable, and just an absolutely wonderful human being. We loved the women's textile collective, the salt mines in Maras, the circular terraces in Moray, Ollantaytambo Fortress, the Andean Pacamana lunch, and the outdoor market in Cusco. But the absolutely best part of our trip was the day we went to Machu Picchu. It was beautiful, spiritual, and life-changing.
